Sharing God's Love; Following the Way
The Adult Education Council is a planning group dedicated to initiate and encourage growth of mind and spirit. The selection of classes is meant to be broad, but spiritually based, covering a wide spectrum of subjects and interests. The congregation should expect 8-10 classes or workshops over the course of a year dealing with questions of faith, as well as the many challenges of daily life.
October 7- November 25
You are invited to an eight-week grief support group offered to those newly bereaved (let three months elapse before trying this) and those who have begun their healing process. The meetings will be held on Monday mornings at 10:00 a.m. in the Library/Fireside Room, starting on Monday, October 7. The facilitator will be Suzanne Jones, Counseling Psychologist. The group will be offered again in mid-January.
December 1 - 22
Do you want this December to feel calmer than past Decembers? If the answer is "yes," then dare to put some time aside for meditation. The awesome truth is that you have the power to create a calm serene feeling to sustain you through this hectic month with this practice. The primary resource for our meditation class is titled "Spiritual Formation" by Henri Nouwen. Just reading this book, which can be purchased on Amazon or at a book store, will have a calming influence on you. The course will include reading the book, journal writing, meditation, and a time for more meditation and reflection the first four Sundays in December: December 1, 8, 15, and 22. Please read the preface and the introduction of the book before our first class on December 1. We will meet in the art room at 8:45 and finish by 9:30. Jeri Connolly and Wendy Hendry will facilitate this class.
